As a NIH Biotechnology Resource Center, CNCT has a primary responsibility to support the neuroscience research community through the development of leading-edge technologies, devices, and protocols for interfacing with the central nervous system. First, the Center directly supports technology push through several core research projects that are designed to move efficiently through advanced R&D cycles, such as:

  • Long-term implantable neural probe technology.
  • Neurochemical sampling techniques.
  • Advanced tissue analysis for implanted neurodevices.

Second, CNCT works closely with external collaborators and the broader neuroscience community to provide application requirements and experimental test beds. These efforts serve as companion pieces to core research and can be termed as application pull.
